Oregon Mauls Fresno in MPSF Quarters

from press releases

STANFORD, Calif. -- The University of Oregon women's lacrosse team advanced to the semifinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament for the second time in program history, thanks to Thursday's 19-2 quarterfinal romp over No. 7 seed Fresno State.

The second-seeded Ducks (12-4) were never challenged and picked up where they left off against the Bulldogs (0-14), who they blanked, 20-0, on March 6.

Oregon built an 18-0 lead before Fresno State finally broke through with a pair of goals in the final 8:20 of the game.

Bina Barrett paced the UO attack with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists. Fellow freshman Jana Drummond also tallied a hat trick as did Kaitlyn Pasko. All told, 14 different Ducks recorded a point or more in the win. All three Oregon goalkeepers saw action and each recorded a single save.

The Ducks outshot the Bulldogs, 45-9, and won all but four draw controls.

UO awaits the winner of No. 3 Cal vs. No. 6 Saint Mary's, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. That semifinal game will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. All MPSF tournament games can be viewed live online at www.gostanford.com.
