Hofstra's Wasserbach Coming Off Career Week

from press release

Hofstra University junior midfielder Sandy Wasserbach (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office.  Wasserbach shared the award with Grace Golden of William & Mary.

Wasserbach had one of the best weeks of her career last week as she tied her career-high with three goals against Rutgers on Monday before eclipsing that mark with a five-goal outing against Stony Brook on Wednesday.  Wasserbach's eight points last week led Hofstra in scoring and she was perfect from the field as she scored her eight goals on eight shots.  She also added five draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover this past week.  For the season, Wasserbach has nine goals and two assists, while also adding eight draw controls, five ground balls and five caused turnovers.  Wasserbach came into this week with just one goal on the season.

Hofstra has won three straight games to improve to 6-3 this season.  Last Monday they defeated Rutgers, 13-7, before ending the week with a 15-7 victory over Stony Brook on Wednesday.

The Pride is back in action on Friday when they open CAA play against James Madison at 7 p.m.  Hofstra will also host George Mason on Sunday at 1 p.m.
