Fairfield Duo Recognized by MAAC

Fairfield University senior women's lacrosse players Lauren
Chatnik (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Rebecca White (Spring Lake, N.J.)
were honored with weekly awards by the Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference (MAAC) Lacrosse League on Monday. Chatnik was
named the league's Defensive Player of the Week, while White earned
Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
The duo led the Stags to a pair of MAAC wins on the week and running the program's regular season MAAC win streak to eight games. The Stags went 2-1 on the week, falling at #16 Dartmouth, and are now 8-2 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Chatnik posted a 6.26 goals-against-average in the two league games this week, making 18 saves in the two wins. She made nine saves in playing the entire game at Iona, and had nine more saves, against only five goals in 55:06 of action at Manhattan. In three games on the week Chatnik made 22 saves having faced 78 shots.
White averaged 4.0 points per game in the three games, tallying a team-best 11 goals on the week. She had seven goals and an assist in the two MAAC games over the weeked. White also controlled eight draw's and picked up eight ground balls. She tallied five points against Manhattan, with her first two goals tying the game and putting the Stags ahead for good. In the win over Iona White netted three goals, along with four ground ball and three draw controls. Against #16 Dartmouth she led the way with four goals.
The Stags will be back in action on Friday, April 3 when they host Marist at 3:30 p.m.
