Colgate Dispatches Gaels in California

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's lacrosse
team suffered a 15-6 loss to Colgate University on Wednesday
afternoon from Saint Mary's Stadium. Brie Moran scored four goals
and Ashley Didio had three goals and an assist to lead the Raiders
to the win. The loss drops Saint Mary's record to 1-6, while
Colgate improved 7-2 overall.
The Gaels were paced by Amy Daniels' two goals, and Juliet Munroe, P.J. Hainley, Maggie Schwab and Abbie Coleman scored one goal each.
Colgate's Moran (4 goals, 1 assist) and Meghan Lawler (2 goals, 3 assists) had five points each, while Didio finished the game with four points and three goals and one assist.
Colgate scored the first two goals of the game to open at 2-0 lead three and a half minutes into the game. The Gaels answered with goals by Coleman and Daniels to even the score at 2-2 at the 22:38 mark. After the Daniels goal, Colgate held SMC scoreless the remainder of the first half, and opened a 10-2 lead by halftime.
Colgate scored the first six goals of the second half to open a 15-2 lead with 12:20 remaining in the game. Saint Mary's closed the game by scoring the final four goals of the game, coming from Schwab, Hainley, Daniels, and Munroe, respectively.
SMC goalkeeper Hilary Gardner collected a career-high 20 saves against Colgate, but allowed 15 goals against 46 shots by the Raiders. Colgate starting goalkeeper Sara Drexler earned the victory, as she had three saves, while allowing two goals in 30 minutes of play.
Saint Mary's will return to the field on Sunday, March 22 when the Gaels return to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play against Denver. The game between the Gaels and Pioneers is scheduled to begin at noon from Pioneer Field in Denver, CO.
