Johnson & Wales-Denver to Add MCLA Team

from press release

DENVER
- Johnson & Wales University's (JWU) Denver Campus is set to expand its athletics offerings with the addition of men's club lacrosse beginning fall 2013.

Director of Athletics, Sandee Mott, has begun the process of hiring a coach and recruiting of student-athletes has already started. The program would look to compete within the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), a national organization of non-NCAA, college lacrosse programs, eight of which are located in Colorado. The MCLA currently operates in the US and Canada with 200+ teams in two divisions across ten conferences. JWU's varsity teams compete as a member of the NAIA which does not currently sponsor Lacrosse.

Mott stated, "We are so excited to bring lacrosse to campus. What a great opportunity to compete in a strong association like the MCLA with so many teams here in Colorado. I have seen the growth of lacrosse in our state and in our region and I am excited to see our team grow and contribute to the success of Wildcat athletics."
