Westminster Entertains Utah on Wednesday

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Westminster men's lacrosse team
welcomes cross-town rival Utah to Dumke Field on Wednesday, March
17. Although the game is being played at Westminster, Utah will be
the home team in the contest. This will be the second of five
straight games played on Dumke Field for the Griffins.
Westminster enters the week at 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the RMLC.
They jumped to No. 7 in the Adidas/MCLA The LAX Mag Top 23 poll
that was released on March 15. They remained seventh in the LAX
Power computer poll and are No. 10 in the Prodigy Network/College
LAX coaches' poll that was released on March 10.
Through the opening seven games of the season, Josh Condas has a
team high 22 points. Condas leads the team with 16 goals and has
added six assists. Jacob Wayman is second n the team with 18 points
behind a team-best 12 assists and six goals. Jake Arthur has scored
14 goals to rank second on the team in that department.
Dallas McLellan has posted a 7.93 goals against average while
making a team leading 57 saves. McLellan has saved 64% of the
opposition's 90 shots on goal while he was between the pipes. Joe
Illya has a 59.7 save percentage and a goals against average of
9.65. Jake Boudreau has made 18 saves during his limited time in
goal this season.
Against Utah
Utah leads the all-time series with Westminster 2-1.
Westminster has dropped the last two meetings in the series
including an 8-7 decision last season on Dumke Field. The Griffins
lone win in the series was a 14-11 victory on April 14, 2007.
Last Action
The Westminster men's lacrosse team got a goal from Kellen
Lynn just 46 seconds into overtime to give them a 9-8 win over No.
7 Utah Valley. The weather didn't cooperate for the Griffins home
opener, but the home team played through the snow and rallied from
an early 3-1 deficit. Westminster used a 6-1 run that spanned three
quarters to open up a 7-4 lead. Jake Arthur put the Griffins ahead
8-5 with 1:49 remaining in the third quarter, only to see Shawn
Carter of UVU score with 38 second remaining in regulation to force
overtime and run the visitors goal streak to three.
