Koch Promoted, Odierna & Phillipi Added to Stevens Staff

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse head coach Gene Peluso has announced the promotion of Eric Koch to the team's top assistant and hiring of John Odierna and Nicolas Philippi to round the staff for the upcoming 2014 season.
Koch has been with Stevens since 2010 and has mainly worked with the Ducks' defense while at Castle Point. Over the past four seasons, the Ducks have compiled a 55-17 overall record and reached the NCAA Division III Championship each of the past three years, which included the program's first-ever Empire 8 Conference title on 2012.
Odierna comes to Stevens after two seasons as an assistant at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Colby posted 15 victories while Odierna was on the sidelines and Mules' Ian Deveau was named NESCAC Player of the Year in 2013. In 2012, Colby tied for third in the NESCAC standings and three members of the squad were named all-conference.
As a student-athlete, Odierna played for Gettysburg College and was an USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2011. He also a two-year Centennial Conference all-league selection and co-captain during his senior campaign. Gettysburg won back-to-back conference titles while Odierna suited up for the Bullets and reached the NCAA National Championship game in 2009.
A native of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., Odierna graduated from Gettysburg with a bachelor's degree in business management. He was also a USILA Scholar All-American in 2011.
Philippi joins the coaching staff on the sidelines in 2013-14 as a volunteer assistant after an illustrious career in Cardinal and Gray. He was a First-Team USILA All-American and LaxMagazine.com writer Jac Coyne's Player of the Year last spring. Philippi led the Ducks in points and goals in 2013 and wrapped up his career in fifth all-time at Stevens in goals scored with 133.
