Usaj Named Washington & Jefferson Head Coach

from press release

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College Director of Athletics Bill Dukett announced Daniel Usaj as the Presidents' head men's lacrosse coach on Monday. Usaj most recently served as the head club coach at Ferris State University (Mich.) and currently is working as the director of True Lacrosse where he creates travel team programs, developmental leagues, clinics, camps and tournaments for western Pennsylvania lacrosse players.

A graduate of Sewickley Academy and St. Lawrence University (N.Y.), Usaj started coaching at the collegiate level at the University of Southern California in 2006. He helped start the club program, spending two seasons as head coach. During the summer of 2007, Usaj coached Team USA (U-19 Team) in Tokyo, Japan, in the International Friendly Games and led the team to a second-place finish.

"Dan brings a wealth of experience and we are looking forward to having him as our new head coach," said Dukett. "He has coached collegiate, scholastic and youth lacrosse, has a great deal of on the field knowledge and has the necessary contacts to recruit locally and nationally to help build our lacrosse program."

Usaj also served as the head coach at Harvard-Westlake High School (Calif.) from 2003-2006. After his experience at USC, Usaj spent one season as the assistant coach at Davenport (Mich.), a member of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA).

After graduating from St. Lawrence University in 2002 with a degree in performance and communication arts, Usaj was the associate head coach at Chagrin Falls High School (Ohio) and helped the program win a state championship in just its fourth season of existence.
