Odierna Signs On With Colby
from press release
WATERVILLE, Maine --- John Odierna, a recent graduate and former lacrosse player at Gettysburg College, has been named as assistant men's lacrosse coach for Colby College head coach Justin Domingos.
Domingos, who is in his second year with the Mules, was an assistant coach at Gettysburg before getting the Colby job.
Odierna, a two-year Centennial Conference all-league selection his final two seasons, was a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Honorable Mention All-American on defense in 2011. He helped the Bullets capture back-to-back conference titles and lifted Gettysburg into the 2009 national championship game at Gillette Stadium against Cortland State.
As a co-captain his senior year at Gettysburg, he helped lead the league's top defensive unit and was selected to participate in the USILA North-South Senior Showcase at Goucher College.
Odierna, a native of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., graduated from Gettysburg with a bachelor's degree in business management. He was named to the USILA Scholar All-American Team for the 2011 season.
Colby finished 9-7 last year and reached the NESCAC tourney for the third straight season. Three-time All-American Craig Bunker was selected after the season to play Major League Lacrosse for the Rochester Rattlers. The Mules open the 2012 season at sixth-ranked Amherst College on Saturday, March 10, at noon.
