Denison Rolls to Easy Win over Kenyon

The No. 15 ranked Denison men’s lacrosse team improved to
9-2 overall and 4-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference
following a 15-3 victory over Kenyon College on Saturday from
McBride Field in Gambier, Ohio.
Denison jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and held an 8-2 advantage at the half en route to the 12-goal victory.
The Big Red got a career-high three goals from Porter McKay (Louisville, Ky./Trinity). His goals, all of which were unassisted, came in the first, second, and third quarters. Senior Emmett Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy), who moved past Mike Riehl and into third place on the DU all-time goal scoring leaderboard, scored twice on Saturday running his career total to 126 goals. Jones trails only Andy John and former teammate Brady Burton on the list of DU’s most prolific scorers.
Also finishing with multi-goal outings was Colin Molloy (Stamford, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and Davis Lukens (Marietta, Ga./Holy Innocents’) who each added two, apiece. Tanner Smith (Boxford, Mass./Brooks School) had one goal and two assists while Cory Couture (San Diego, Calif./Coronado) turned in two assists.
Two of Kenyon’s three goals came from David Clark. Face-off specialist Chris Pappalardo went 12-for-18 and had 11 ground balls. DU was led in the face-off game by Tyler King (Warrenton, Va./Highland School) who was 6-for-12. He had four ground balls, tying Smith for the team lead.
Big Red goalie Nick Petracca (Manhassett, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee) posted 13 saves in the win while Kenyon goalie Austin Anusbigian finished with five saves.
DU outshot Kenyon 36-26 and both teams were 0-for-2 in extra-man situations.
Denison will travel to Otterbein on Tuesday (April 26) for a 7 p.m. clash with the Cardinals before returning to Granville for the heavily anticipated rematch with No. 1 ranked Stevenson, next Saturday (April 30).
