Two Locals Choose Haverford
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team has
announced commitments of two players from a pair of high-powered
local programs in first-year head coach Colin Bathory's initial
recruiting class.
Lawrenceville School (N.J.) senior midfielder Christian Clay and
Conestoga senior attackman Zach Jacobs will join the Fords
beginning with the fall semester of 2010.
Clay, from Montchanin, Del., helped lead his Lawrenceville squad to
the Mid-Atlantic Prep League and New Jersey state prep school
championships in 2009.
The son of a Haverford alum, Jacobs (Malvern, Pa.) was part of a
Conestoga squad that achieved a 24-2 record in reaching the
Pennsylvania state finals last season.
The pair will eventually be joining a Haverford team that has
earned consecutive bids to the NCAA tournament the past two years
and captured its first regular season Centennial Conference crown
last spring.
The current Fords squad is preparing to embark on a foreign tour to
Australia departing on Jan. 4, 2010, and returning 11 days later on
Jan. 15.
