Springfield's Bugbee Hires New Assistants
from press release
Springfield College head coach Keith Bugbee is pleased to
announce the three assistant coaches who will help him and the
Pride in the upcoming 2010 campaign. Joining Bugbee on the
sidelines will be alums Tim Robbins '05 and Jake Beebe '08 along
with newcomer to the program Casey Brodersen.
Robbins will serve as Springfield's defensive coach and brings of
wealth of knowledge from the Division I ranks to his alma mater.
Most recently an assistant at Siena College, Robbins previously
worked with the goalies and face-off specialists during his time at
Bucknell University. During his time at Bucknell, he guided
Bucknell's goalie to the best save percentage and goals-against
average in the nation in 2007. Robbins played four years of
lacrosse at Springfield College, starting each year at midfield.
Springfield was ranked top-10 in the nation all four years and
reached the NCAA Tournament in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Robbins was
elected captain his senior year.
After one of the finest careers in Springfield history, Beebe will
make the transition from a player to a coach as he starts his first
year on the sidelines for the Pride as its offensive coach. Beebe
ended his career ranked in the top seven in the three major
offensive categories as he tallied 127 goals (7th most), 126
assists (4th most), and 253 points (4th most) throughout his four
years. His senior season was also one of the best single seasons in
program history as his 46 assists were the second most for a player
in a year, while his 87 points was the fourth-highest total for a
player in one season. Beebe was recognized for his play as he was
selected by the Boston Cannons with the 40th pick of the 2009 Major
League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft earlier this summer.
Brodersen comes to Springfield and will work primarily with the
Pride's midfielders as well as its face-off unit as a volunteer
assistant with the program. A standout at Keene State, Brodersen
registered 25 goals, six assists on the Owls first midfield line
while going 120 for 194 at the faceoff "X" with 83 groundballs
during his senior season. In addition to working with the middies
on both offense and defense, Brodersen will oversee a Springfield
face-off unit that went 242-424 (57.1%) last season, good enough
for first in the Pilgrim Lacrosse League and 33rd best in the
entire country.
