Blumenthal Joins Babson Men's Staff
from press release
BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Josh Blumenthal has been
named the new assistant coach for the Babson College men's lacrosse
program, head coach Brendan Gorman and Director of Athletics Josh
MacArthur announced on Tuesday.
A 2003 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Blumenthal comes
to Babson after spending the last year as an assistant coach at
Adelphi University, where he also received his Master's degree in
Sports Management in August 2009. Prior to that, he spent four
years as the head varsity lacrosse coach and sports information
director at Palmer Trinity School in Miami, where he led his team
to a top-10 finish in South Florida in three of his four seasons.
Blumenthal also served as associate head coach and offensive
coordinator for the U19 Bermuda National Team in the summer of
2008, and he is currently an assistant coach for the Bermuda Men's
National Team.
While at Rhode Island, Blumenthal played three seasons as a member
of the men's lacrosse team, including the 2001 campaign which saw
the Rams win the Pioneer League Championship. He also worked in a
number of high profile public relations departments during and
after his time at URI, including various roles for the New Jersey
Storm of the NLL, the New York Power of the WUSA, the National
Lacrosse League, and the National Hockey League.
"We are very excited to add a coach like Josh to the Babson
Lacrosse family," says Brendan Gorman, who is also entering his
first season at the helm of the Beavers. "The professionalism he
brings to the program will improve our players' college experience,
both on and off the playing field. Having a coach of his caliber
fully engrained into our program instantly moves us closer to where
we want to be."
"While Josh's primary responsibility will be to work with our
goalies and defense, the whole team will benefit from his
knowledge. Also, his experience at Adelphi and Palmer Trinity will
help immensely in our recruiting efforts not only in the
traditional lacrosse hot beds such as Long Island but also the
rising ones like Florida."
