Three Men's Players Enter WAC Hall of Fame

from press release

CHESTERTOWN, Md.
-- Washington College will welcome nine new members to its Athletic Hall of Fame October 30th during an annual ceremony and dinner, and four of them were affiliated with the men's lacrosse team.

Jay Elliott '75
One of the finest defensemen in Washington College lacrosse history, Jay Elliott was a two-time All-American, earning Division II-III second-team honors in 1975 and Division II-II third-team honors in 1974. He was also selected for the 1975 North-South Senior All-Star Game. As a junior and senior, Elliott led the Shoremen to the NCAA Division II/III Tournament, reaching the semifinals in 1975. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, the Shoremen advanced to the championship game of the USILA College Division National Tournament - the precursor to the NCAA Division II/III Tournament.

Dave Slomkowski '92
The first goalie in Washington College men's lacrosse history to earn All-America honors three times, Dave Slomkowski was presented with the Division III Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Award in 1990 as the nation's top goalie. Slomkowski led the Shoremen to the 1990 NCAA Division III National Championship Game and the 1989 NCAA Division III Semifinals. In five career NCAA Division III Tournament games, he totaled 98 saves and only 53 goals allowed for a save percentage of .649.

Andy Taibl '98
A three-time All-American and three-time All-Centennial Conference selection, Andy Taibl was the starting goalie for the 1998 NCAA Division III National Champion men's lacrosse team. Taibl was presented with the Division III Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Award in 1997 as the nation's top goalie, was a North/South Senior All-Star, and finished his career with 711 saves. In addition to leading his team to the 1998 National Championship without playing a single NCAA Tournament game at home, Taibl was between the pipes in the 1996 and 1997 NCAA National Championship Games.

Terry Corcoran - Special (Men's Lacrosse Coach)
Terry Corcoran was the head coach of the men's lacrosse team for 12 seasons, leading the Shoremen to 10 NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and four NCAA Division III Championship Game appearances, including three consecutive. In his dozen seasons (1983-1994) at the helm of the Shoremen, the team went 125-55 and posted a winning record in the NCAA Division III Tournament (11-10). His .694 winning percentage at Washington College is the best of any men's lacrosse coach in school history and is the second-best in school history for any coach with at least 100 victories in Washington College Athletics history.
