The Oswego State Athletic Department announced Friday that Ryan
Martin has been named the head men’s lacrosse coach at
Oswego. Martin joins the Lakers after having served as the
assistant coach at Nazareth College for the past four seasons.
The Amherst, Mass. native served as defensive and recruiting
coordinator for the Golden Flyers as well as film

Championship and receive trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament
in 2007 and 2009 and an ECAC Championship in 2008. In four
seasons with the Golden Flyers, Martin has worked with eight USILA
All-Americans, two Empire 8 Conference Players of the Year, and
four USILA Scholar All-Americans. In addition to his coaching
responsibilities, he served as the Nazareth intramural
director.
Prior to joining the coaching staff at Nazareth, Martin had two
stints as an assistant coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
for the 2006 season and Hampden-Sydney College for the 2005
season. He was responsible for working with goalies and
defense at both institutions, while also serving as the recruiting
coordinator at RPI. Martin also served as the interim head
coach RPI during the summer of 2006, continuing the recruiting
process and communicating with incoming freshmen and potential
recruits.
“We are extremely pleased to have Ryan Martin taking over the
leadership of our men’s lacrosse program”, said Tim
Hale, Oswego State Athletic Director. “He brings a wealth of
high level experience as a player and coach to our program. His
experience and enthusiam will provide the guidance for future Laker
success.”
Martin is an active clinician for Gamebreaker Lacrosse Camps for
boys age 12-18 in New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut,
Pennsylvania, and Georgia during the summer months. He has
assessed individual players and developed training sessions and
individualized training regimens for campers.
As a player, Martin was a standout at Ithaca College where he
played three seasons in goal for the Bombers and acted as team
captain for two of those years. Martin earned All-America
honors in 2002 and 2003 and was recognized as the Empire 8
Conference Player of the Year in 2002.
Martin graduated from Ithaca in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Business Administration and is in the process of
receiving his Master’s degree in Business Administration from
Nazareth.
