CAC Announces All-League Men's Team
from press release
YORK, Pa. - Not surprisingly, CAC champion Stevenson and
runner up Salisbury - the top two men's lacrosse teams in the CAC,
which also rank among the top three teams in the country -
dominated the 2010 All-CAC team, each placing eight players out of
the 25 named to the conference all-star team.
Top-ranked Stevenson led the way with six first-team All-CAC
berths, including sweeping the three openings on the attack line.
The Mustangs, who won their first CAC title by a 10-6 margin at
Salisbury on April 24, also had two players earn second-team
all-conference honors.
Third-ranked Salisbury had five first-team All-CAC players,
including sophomore midfielder Sam Bradman (Canton, N.Y./Canton),
the 2010 Player of the Year, and three second-team honorees. It is
the 16th-straight year that a Salisbury player has been named the
CAC Player of the Year. Bradman is the only Division III player
among the finalists for the Tewaaraton Award as the national Player
of the Year.
Also representing the Sea Gulls on the All-CAC team, for the eighth
time in his career, is 2010 Coach of the Year Jim Berkman.
Berkman's squad boasts a 17-1 overall record, raising his career
mark to 354-45, including a 90-2 regular-season mark vs. CAC foes,
15 conference championships and eight national titles.
Wesley attackman Jack Skeels (Roseland, N.J./West Essex Regional)
was selected by the CAC Coaches as the 2010 Rookie of the Year. He
is the first Wesley player to win the award.
The attack line of seniors Richie Ford (Baltimore, Md./Towson),
Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) and junior Jimmy Dailey
(Westminster, Md./Winter Mills) led the Stevenson contingent on the
2010 All-CAC team. All three are making their third appearance on
the All-CAC team. Dailey was also the 2007 CAC Rookie of the
Year.
Stevenson also placed junior midfielder Kyle Moffit (Harrisburg,
Pa./C.D. East), junior defender Evan Douglass (Exeter, N.H./Exeter)
and junior shortstick Ray Witte (Annapolis, Md./St. Peter &
Paul) on the All-CAC first team. Douglas moved to first-team after
earning second-team honors in 2009.
Mustang seniors Mike Gustowarow (Annapolis, Md./Dematha) and Geoff
Hebert (Lutherville, Md./Dulaney) were second-team All-CAC picks,
both gaining conference recognition for the first time.
Four Salisbury teammates joined Bradman on the All-CAC first team,
including senior midfielder Mike Von Kamecke (Winter Park,
Fla./Bishop Moore), junior defender Collin Tokosch (Arnold,
Md./Broadneck), senior long-stick midfielder Connor Burgasser
(Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls) and junior goalie Johnny Rodriguez
(Gambrills, Md./Mt. St. Joseph). Burgasser was a first-team
all-star and Von Kamecke was a second-team pick in 2008.
Salisbury placed three on the All-CAC second-team, including
sophomore attack Matt Cannone (Bayport, N.Y./Bethpage), sophomore
defender Andrew Sellers (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and
senior short-stick specialist Ryan Finch (Finksburg,
Md./Westminster). Cannone was a first-team all-star and Rookie of
the Year, and Finch was a second-team choice in 2009.
St. Mary's also placed four players on the 2010 All-CAC, including
first-team senior defender Ryder Henry (Washington, D.C./St. John's
College) for the second-straight year. Second-team choices for the
Seahawks include junior attack Dennis Rosson (Severna Park,
Md./Severn), senior midfielder Ryan Alexander (Laurel, Md./St.
Vincent Pallotti) and junior defender Sean Hatley (Harwood,
Md./Archbishop Spalding).
Alexander, a four-time All-CAC player, was the 2007 CAC Co-Rookie
of the Year while Rosson, a three-time second-team all-star, was
the 2008 CAC Rookie of the Year.
York players earned three nods on the All-CAC second team,
including senior attack Ryan McNicholas (Fallston, Md./Fallston),
sophomore midfielder B.J. Blaker (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) and
senior defender James Greenwood (Bel Air, Md./Fallston). All three
are first-time CAC all-stars.
Mary Washington junior Brian Meaney (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold
Spring Harbor) and Wesley senior Nick Pisacano (Kings Park,
N.Y./Kings Park) rounded out the 2010 All-CAC second-team midfield.
Pisacano earned an All-CAC nod for the second-straight season.
