Colorado College's Hoisington SCAC POW
from press release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior defenseman Zach
Hoisington of the Colorado College men's lacrosse team was named
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the
Week after helping the Tigers post victories at Kenyon College and
The College of Wooster on consecutive days last weekend.
Hoisington grabbed three ground balls and held Kenyon's leading
scorer, Jordan Zimolka, to just one goal during CC's 12-9 triumph
over Kenyon on Saturday.
The following day at Wooster, Hoisington had two ground balls,
caused three turnovers and limited the dangerous Pat Coyne to one
tally as the Tigers extended their winning streak to five games
with a 12-4 win over the Scots.
The victory over Wooster marked the fifth time this season that the
Colorado College defense surrendered fewer than six goals in a
game.
CC held the Scots scoreless on six extra-man opportunities,
including four in a row during the final 15:41of the first half,
and did not allow a shot when the Scots held a two-man advantage
for 30 seconds late in the second quarter. Kenyon and Wooster were
a combined 1-10 while a man up.
Hoisington joins teammates Kyle Bishop (Feb. 23 and April 5),
Brendan Haas (March 22) and Zach Pierce (March 29) as recipients of
the SCAC's weekly defensive honor.
Colorado College returns to Ohio this week to face No. 11 Denison
University and Wittenberg University on Friday and Sunday,
respectively.
