Levick Nets 10 in Elmira Victory

ELMIRA, N.Y. The Soaring Eagles Men’s Lacrosse team picked up their fourth win of the 2010 season by beating the Mavericks of the Medaille College 24-18. A lackluster defensive effort by both schools led to a combined 42 goal game. EC out-shot Medaille 50-36 and won 27 of 45 face-offs.

Elmira outscored Medaille 21-12 in the first three periods of play, giving the Soaring Eagles enough cushion to cruise to a win. Elmira never trailed in the contest as they handled the Mavericks from start to finish.

Leading the way for EC was fourth year player Brad Levick ’10 (Newmartket, ONT -- St. Andrews College). Levick was a dominant force in today’s contest, netting 10 goals and earning 3 assists. His 10 goals was one shy away from the EC All-Time record for goals in a game but his 13 points set a new EC All-Time record for points in a game.

Rick Acorn ’12 (Barrie, ONT -- Innisdale) and Kevin Morrison ’10 (Hingham, MA -- Boston College) combined for 9 points on 6 goals and 3 assists. Acorn also grabbed 9 ground balls. Brandon Saylor ’10 (Cleveland Heights, OH -- Cleveland Heights) had a solid game for the Soaring Eagles as he won 25 of 41 face-offs and picked up a game high 14 ground balls.

Earning the win for Elmira was fourth year goalie Geoffrey Lane ’10 (Pennington, NJ -- Pennington School). Lane made 6 saves in 45 minutes of action. All three EC goalies saw action today and combined for a 9 saves.

The Soaring Eagles Men’s Lacrosse team opens up Empire 8 Conference play against the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College on Saturday, April 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Campus Field in Elmira, NY
