No. 10 Geneseo Throttles Ithaca, 17-7

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The 10th-ranked Geneseo Blue
Knights (3-0) scored 14 straight goals through the first, second,
and third quarters and defeated the #21 Ithaca (0-3) men's lacrosse
team 17-7 Friday afternoon in a neutral site game at Murphy Field
on the campus of Onondaga Community College.
Ithaca took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter on goals by freshman
midfielder Brendan Donelan (Brewster/Patterson), the first goal of
his career, and junior midfielder Mike Silipo (Williston
Northampton/Deerfield, Mass.). The Bombers were held off the
scoreboard for the next 31 minutes until junior midfielder Ryan
Lowe (Fairport/Fairport) answered for Ithaca late in the third
quarter. It was Lowe's second goal of the season.
Sophomore attackman Devin Weinshank (Long Beach/Long Beach) scored
three straight goals for Ithaca in the fourth quarter and tied a
career-high with three goals in the game. He leads Ithaca in
scoring with four goals on the year. Junior middie Jay Lucas (Fox
Lane/Bedford Hills) had a career-high three assists in the contest
and tied a career high with three points. Ithaca's seven goals were
the highest offensive total of the season, and the four
fourth-quarter goals were a season-best over one quarter.
Ithaca won 14 faceoffs, as sophomore midfielder Brian DiBetta
(John Jay/Katonah) was 8-for-13 at the X.
The Bombers return to action Monday at Whitter (Calif.).
