SCAC Recognizes Two Colorado College Players
from press releases
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Kyle Bishop and Carson
Christman were named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's
first-ever Players of the Week for men's lacrosse in recognition of
their efforts during Colorado College's season-opening victories at
Notre Dame de Namur University and Dominican University of
California.
Bishop, who averaged 5.5 ground balls and won 18 of 28 face-offs
during the two games, earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Christman was selected Offensive Player of the week after averaging
3.0 goals, 2.0 assists and 5.0 points per game.
During the season-opening victory 15-7 at NDNU, Bishop led the
Tigers with four ground balls and won five of 11 face-offs. The
senior midfielder grabbed seven ground balls and won 13 of 17
face-offs two days later when CC defeated DUC, 13-5.
The Tigers allowed just 12 total goals in the two games.
Christman struck for two goals, including the game winner, and
added a pair of assists against Notre Dame de Namur. The sophomore
attacker added four goals and a pair of assists as CC defeated
Dominican 13-5.
Although statistics from last Saturday's 12-7 victory over the
Colorado State University club team were not considered, Christman
paced the Tiger attack with three goals and three assists for a
game-high six points. He also set up Moses Taylor's game-winning
goal in the third period.
Colorado College plays host to the University of Colorado club team
on Saturday at Washburn Field. Opening face-off is set for 1 p.m.
