Bullets Earn Top Billing in CC Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, Pa. - Gettysburg College edged
Franklin & Marshall College by two points to claim the top
position in the 2010 Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Coaches
Preseason Poll released by the conference office on Tuesday, Feb.
23.
All 10 first-place votes went to either Gettysburg or Franklin
& Marshall, with the Bullets earning six and 78 total points.
The three-time defending conference champions and reigning national
champion, Franklin & Marshall picked up the remaining
first-place nods from the coaches and finished right behind
Gettysburg with 76 points. The Bullets topped the preseason poll
for the first time since 2007.
2009 conference playoff qualifiers Dickinson College (62 points),
Muhlenberg College (58 points), and McDaniel College (49 points)
were each predicted to reclaim playoff spots this spring. Rounding
out the bottom five squads were Haverford College (38 points),
Ursinus College (35 points), Washington College (26 points),
Swarthmore College (19 points), and Bryn Mawr College (10
points).
Gettysburg finished 16-4 last season and made its third appearance
in the NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals in the last four
seasons. The Bullets were picked third in both preseason national
polls conducted by Lacrosse Magazine and the
Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
Gettysburg kicks off the 2010 season at home this Thursday, Feb.
25, against the University of Mary Washington at 4 p.m.
