Christman, Hass Lead Colorado College Past CSU

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Carson Christman had a
hand in six goals and Brendan Haas made six saves to lead Colorado
College to a 12-7 victory over the Colorado State University club
team on the snow-covered turf at Washburn Field.
Christman scored twice during a five-goal outburst that gave the
Tigers a 6-1 lead with 10:04 remaining in the second period.
After Cooper Kehoe scored 51 seconds into the second half to trim
CC's lead to 6-4, Christman set up a pair of goals 2:51 apart to
help the Tigers re-establish control.
Moses Taylor scored what proved to be the game-winning goal 5:13
into the third period after taking a feed from Christman. Taylor
finished with two scores and set up another.
CSU's Paul Larson scored the first of his two goals with 5:58
remaining in the third, only to see Colorado College strike twice
during the final 1:22.
Michael McGeary brought the Tiger fans to their feet when he went
the length of the field, splitting a pair of defenders at midfield,
and scored with a long stick with 25 seconds to go in the third
period.
The Rams added a pair of man-up goals to trim CC's lead to 10-7
with 7:18 remaining in the game, but Christman scored off a feed
from Kyle Wildnauer-Haigney with 1:54 to play and set up Steve
Rijo's tally 58 seconds later to close out the scoring.
Brendan Gangl scored the goal of the game when he beat Alex Jacques
with a diving shot near the left pipe after being knocked off
balance.
Larson and Greyson Kondel each scored a pair of goals to lead the
Colorado State attack. Kehoe recorded a goal and two assists.
Haas went the distance to earn the victory in goal, stopping six of
CSU's 13 shots on goal. The Rams scored three times while playing a
man up. Jacques made six saves on 18 shots for the Rams.
Colorado State won 18 of 24 face-offs and had a 38-24 advantage in
ground balls. The Rams committed 20 turnovers, compared to just 15
for the Tigers.
Colorado College plays host to the University of Colorado club team
next Saturday at 1 p.m.
