Hamilton Men Helping to Feed the Hungry
from press releases
CLINTON, N.Y. - Members of the Hamilton College
men's lacrosse team are feeding the hungry and helping Utica
residents that are in need.
Corbin Brown '11 (Lincoln, Mass./Milton Academy) formed Hamilton
Against Hunger last winter after he wondered what happened to the
food that wasn't eaten at the campus dining halls. Brown and his
organization worked with the Food Bank of Greater Utica at first,
but now makes donations to the Utica Rescue Mission.
Some days, as much as a quarter of the food prepared at Hamilton's
dining halls is not used. The food that isn't consumed is picked up
twice a week by the rescue mission, who meets members of a Hamilton
team at two dining halls. Approximately 200 pounds of food is
salvaged every week. Brown is one of four Hamilton Against Hunger
site coordinators. The others are teammate Stephen Lefebvre '11,
Dan Bartus '12 and James Keefe '13.
The men's lacrosse team will be serving meals at the rescue mission
on Saturday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 13.
