Marywood Women Name Captains for 2010

SCRANTON, Pa. - Carrie Glenn, Katie Sullivan, and
Alexis Willey have been named captains for Marywood University's
women's lacrosse team's 2010 season according to an announcement
made today by head coach Rob Brooks. The trio will look to
lead the Pacers back to the Colonial States Athletic Conference
playoffs for the second-straight season.
Glenn, a senior defender from Rifton, NY, was named a team captain
for the second-straight season after starting all 31 games for the
Pacers since the program's inception in 2008. A Second Team
All-Conference selection in both 2008 and 2009, Glenn has anchored
Marywood's defense for the past two seasons and ranked 7th in the
country last year with 43 caused turnovers and 17th with 63
groundballs. For her career, Glenn has tallied eight points
on four goals and four assists while collecting 104 groundballs, 76
caused turnovers, and 33 draw controls.
Sullivan, a junior goalie from Merrick, NY, was selected as a team
captain after being named Second Team All-Conference in 2009 after
finishing the season ranked second in the nation in saves per
game. Sullivan has started 28 games for the Pacers over the
past two seasons, making 392 saves, an average of 14 per
game. Sullivan has a career 15.33 goals against average and
her .509 save percentage from a season ago was 35th best
in the country.
Willey, a junior attacker from Hummelstown, PA, will begin her
first season as a captain after appearing in 29 games over the past
two seasons, including 13 as a starter in 2009. Named to the
conference's All-Academic Team the past two seasons, Willey led the
team with nine assists a year ago and added 11 goals for 20
points. For her career, Willey has registered 13 goals and 10
assists for 23 points. Additionally, the junior has picked up
16 groundballs, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
Marywood went 7-9 overall in 2009 and 4-3 Colonial States Athletic
Conference play to earn a postseason berth before falling to
Gwynedd-Mercy College in the CSAC Semifinals. The Pacers will
open the 2010 season on March 1st at Randolph College in
Lynchburg, VA.
