Denison's Caravana Names Williams Assistant Coach
from press release
Denison University head men's lacrosse coach Mike Caravana has
announced the hiring of Brady Williams as assistant coach for the
2010 season. Williams rounds out a staff comprised of Caravana, who
is in his 17th season as the head coach at Denison, and second-year
assistant coach Adam Stewart.
A local product out of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Caravana's ties to
Williams trace back to his youth.
"I have known Brady for almost 10 years, and we are excited to have
him join our coaching staff," said Caravana. "He has played both
attack and midfield, and is a fine teacher and student of the game.
He will add a great deal to our player development at the offensive
end of the field, and both Coach Stewart and I feel he will be a
great addition to our staff as we strive to have another successful
season."
A 2009 graduate of Brown University, Williams was a three-year
starter for the Bears and earned honorable mention All-Ivy League
honors as a senior. He was selected to compete in the 68th United
States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) North/South
Senior All-Star Game, and was a USILA Scholar All-American
selection. While playing at Upper Arlington, Williams was a high
school All-American and Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association
Player of the Year in 2004, and was named MVP of the MLSA
Tournament.
"I'm very excited for the upcoming spring season," said Williams.
"I have been impressed, not only with the players' skills, but also
with their desire to work, compete and win. I'm also privileged to
be coaching with Michael Caravana and Adam Stewart. They are
talented and committed coaches, and I'm looking forward to working
with them this spring."
Denison is coming off a 14-3 season in 2009 which saw the team
advance to the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament
for the 11th time in program history. The Big Red open their 2010
season on Feb. 24 at Mount St. Joseph and are ranked sixth in the
Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Top-20 Division III rankings.
