Nike/LM DII Men's Top 15: Le Moyne on Top
Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Rankings
Entering the NCAA tournament, Division II was still Limestone's world. However, we've got a new king in town.
Le Moyne's defense shut down a prolific Limestone offense and helped the Dolphins cruise to a 8-4 win at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. It's Le Moyne's first championship since 2013.
With it, we have a new No. 1. Outside of that, there wasn't much movement, as the only teams that played since the last rankings made the NCAA tournament. Tampa moved to No. 4 after a miraculous comeback against Mercyhurst. The rest remained mostly unchanged.
Also considered: Indianapolis, Lenoir-Rhyne, Mercy, Molloy, Pace, Rollins, Saint Anselm.
Le Moyne (+1): It would be hard not to pick the team that capped its undefeated season with a 9-4 win over Limestone in the national championship game. The Dolphins got by NYIT in the first round, then dismissed Merrimack for the third time and got revenge over Limestone in the title game.
NYIT (+3): The Bears just slid into the tournament field, but showed they belonged there. NYIT overcame a 6-1 deficit and took Le Moyne to overtime before falling, a good showing for a team that lost the ECC final to LIU Post.
Mercyhurst (-3): It was a tough way to the end the season for Mercyhurst. It led 8-1 at halftime and fell 10-9 to Tampa in overtime of the NCAA tournament first round.
