Limestone Men Name '13 Captains

from press release

GAFFNEY, S.C. – A great team begins at the top with great leaders, and head Limestone men's lacrosse coach J.B. Clarke is confident he has his with the naming of senior midfielders Tor Reinholdt (Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada), Ahmaad Simmons (Baltimore City, Md.) and Zach Cummings (Crownsville, Md.) as team captains for the 2013 season.

"The three men elected captains by their teammates were chosen, above all, because of their work ethic on and off the field," said Clarke. "Tor, Zach and Ahmaad are three of the hardest working players I have had the honor to coach - at any level. These three captains will be able to encourage their teammates from the front of the pack – pulling them with them to reach their highest level of effort and execution."

Each has already been doing that in their time at Limestone as they have been key members of one of the most successful programs in the country. Last season as the Saints reached the NCAA Division II title game for the seventh time, Reinholdt delivered 26 goals and 12 assists for 38 points, Cummings had 18 goals and four assists for 22 points and Simmons was an anchor in the midfield for 18 of the 19 games.

"It was not until after my first meeting with the 2013 captains that I felt at ease since leaving Gillette Stadium last Memorial Day Weekend knowing that the group of seniors and captains we were losing to graduation that day would be a huge void to fill," added Clarke. "I am certain that Zach, Tor and Ahmaad will be excellent leaders. They are men of the highest character. They come from different backgrounds and have all had to work very hard to get to the level of excellence that each has achieved. I trust them and can't wait to begin practice with them at the helm of the 2013 team."

That 2013 team will first take the field on February 2 when they travel to Durham, N.C. to take on Division I national power Duke in a preseason game. The Saints will open the regular season on February 15 at Tampa with a 7 p.m. contest.

They'll open the home season with one of the most anticipated games in all of Division II lacrosse as Dowling visits Saints Field in a rematch of the national championship game on February 23 at 1 p.m.
