Saint Michael's Klingsbury to Deliver Vermont Keynote
from press release
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Due to his involvement in the growth and development of the game of lacrosse in the state of Vermont, Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse head coach Brian Kingsbury has been selected as the keynote speaker for the Vermont Chapter of US Lacrosse's 10th annual recognition banquet this Sunday.
Kingsbury's speech will come at the Windjammer Restaurant in South Burlington during a dinner and fundraiser that acknowledges those who represent diverse areas of lacrosse in the state, including on the youth, high school and college levels, and among officials. In his brief two-year tenure as a college head coach, Kingsbury has led his charges to a 23-12 overall record, as well as a 13-4 showing in conference play.
"It has been a mission of mine to help grow the sport wherever I am," said Kingsbury, who led the Purple Knights to school records of 11 wins and a 6.12 goals-against average last spring in his first season with the program after coaching for three years at Castleton State College. "Since 2008 at Castleton State, I have been involved with the community and growing the sport, from teaching coaches and players in clinics to putting on all-star games."
Kingsbury also helped Saint Michael's claim an appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinals in 2012 while being ranked as high as ninth nationally. In 2010, during his second season as an assistant coach at Castleton State, Kingsbury helped the program make its NCAA Tournament debut before leading the Spartans back to the NCAAs in his lone season as head coach in 2011. Castleton State won the North Atlantic Conference's (NAC) regular-season and tournament titles that spring.
"I love lacrosse because of what it brings to individuals and the community," said Kingsbury. "It's the unique American sport that combines speed, agility, aggressiveness, endurance and hand-eye coordination. Lacrosse is a ton of fun to watch, play and coach."
