Lange Elevated to Head Coach at Lindenwood

from press release

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood Athletics Director John Creer has announced the hiring of Jim Lange as the new head coach of the men's lacrosse program. Lange takes over for previous coach Derek Schaub, who left the program to become Lindenwood men's golf coach.

"Being a proud alumnus of Lindenwood and the lacrosse program, I could not be more excited to take over as head coach," said Lange. "There is no other place I would rather be. I have grown with this program from its club days to the NCAA DII level and can't wait to take this program to the next level, which is an ECAC championship and a national championship."

Lange is not a new face to Lindenwood lacrosse. He has been part of the program as a player or coach since 2004. He started his time at Lindenwood on the field and became one of the top goal scorers in the team's MCLA history. When he finished his playing career in 2007, he was the Lions' all-time leading scorer. He was also a four-time all-conference selection, a conference MVP, and an MCLA All-American.

"Jimmy has been a pillar of the men's lacrosse program the past several years," said Creer. "He has been the recruiting architect that put together the team this year, which was very competitive against teams that made it to the NCAA DII playoffs. Jimmy is respected by his players, developing them not only on the field but also in the classroom. He is a relentless recruiter with strong integrity and great character. Jimmy is an excellent fit at Lindenwood, and we anticipate his teams will be very competitive while representing the university at the highest level."

After graduating, Lange moved right into a coaching role with the Lions. In his first four seasons, Lange helped Lindenwood go 61-23 at the MCLA level. During that time, the Lions won three conference tournament titles and advanced to three national tournaments.

In the program's first two seasons against NCAA competition, Lange helped the Lions to a record of 16-12. The past two seasons, six Lions have been named to all-conference squads.

Lange is a St. Louis native who began his lacrosse career at DeSmet Jesuit High School. He has also coached at DeSmet and for the St. Louis Samurai select team.
