from press release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) made 10 saves to lead the fourth-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 15-4 win over ninth-ranked Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference regular season finale at Ted Grant Field.

With the victory, the Dolphins clinch the third seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. Le Moyne will host Saint Anselm College on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the first round. The winner will advance to face second-seeded Merrimack College in the semifinals on Friday.

Le Moyne (12-2, 9-2 NE-10) opened the game's scoring just 3:09 into the contest as sophomore midfielder Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tallied his 17th goal of the season from 10 yards in front of the goal. Just 55 seconds later, senior midfielder Doug Bailey (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) bulled his way to the crease for his sixth goal of the campaign.

After White picked up a loose ball, he cleared the ball to graduate student midfielder Aaron Cahill (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland/Onondaga C.C.), who carried the ball into the offensive zone and fired in his sixth goal of the year with 7:52 remaining. Just 36 seconds later, sophomore attackman Kevin Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) scored his 11th goal of the season with a behind-the-back shot from the right edge of the crease after taking a pass from senior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy).

After the Dolphins started the second quarter with a man advantage, freshman midfielder Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) cut in front of the cage to net his ninth goal of the season after receiving a pass from the left side of the goal from Frechette. Kelly gave Le Moyne a 6-0 lead with 11:34 remaining in the quarter off another pass from Frechette. Junior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) completed the scoring in the first half by rifling a shot inside the left post with 3:06 left.

Chadderdon tallied his second goal of the day just 60 into the third quarter, while Jenkins capped Le Moyne's 9-0 outburst to start the game with his 10th goal at the 11:16 mark. Saint Michael's broke through with its first goal at the 9:55 mark on Cooper Quenneville's 12th tally of the season.

The Dolphins regained their nine-goal lead with a transition goal following a save by White. After sophomore midfielder Alec Westerhoff (Lagrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township/Bridgton Academy) carried the ball into the offensive end, he sent a pass back to sophomore long-stick midfielder Nick Hourigan (Rexford, N.Y./Shenendehowa), who fired a bounce-shot into the back of the net for the second time this year with 4:27 remaining. Westerhoff put the Dolphins up 11-1 with 1:25 left after taking a pass from Bailey.

Evan Antolino pulled the Purple Knights within 11-2 at the end of the third quarter by finishing off a pass from Quenneville with nine seconds left.

Le Moyne scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter to extend its lead to 14-2 with 8:02 left. Jenkins had assists on the first two goals as Chadderdon scored with 13:10 remaining and Frechette scored from the left edge of the crease in a man-up situation with 11:58 left. Kelly then scored with 8:02 to play after taking a pass from Westerhoff.

Antolino recorded an unassisted goal with 3:51 left, while Pete Donnally found the back of the net with 45 seconds left off a pass from Max Zuccarini to complete the game's scoring. In between the two Saint Michael's goals, graduate student defensive midfielder Jeff Vetter (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) capped Le Moyne's scoring with his second goal of the year at the 1:21 mark.

White, the national leader in goals against average (4.38), made six of his 10 saves in the second quarter en route to earning his 52nd career victory. Chris DeMairo made 11 saves in between the pipes in the loss for the Purple Knights.
