Olliver Has Interim Label Removed at Coker

from press release

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – David Olliver has been named head coach for men's lacrosse at Coker College. He had served as interim head coach since March 7.

"This is an amazing opportunity," Olliver said. "I cannot thank the Coker administration enough for the opportunity as a head coach. The support I have received since I arrived here – especially from Dr. Wyatt, Dr. Griffin and the coaching staffs – has been tremendous. It is my full intention to establish a program the college, its faculty, staff and alumni are proud of. The future of Cobra lacrosse is very bright."

Under Olliver, the Cobras went 4-4 and averaged over 11 goals-per-game. They notched wins over Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae College, Young Harris College and future South Atlantic Conference opponents Wingate University, Lenoir-Rhyne. For the season they finished 5-10 overall.

"David understands how to recruit and mentor student athletes, and I feel sure with his many accomplishments both at Wingate University and here at Coker this spring he will continue to build a winning program for Coker," said vice president of athletics and facilities Lynn Griffin.

Prior to joining Coker, Oliver was an assistant coach at Wingate University from 2008-13. He was also a four-year player for the Wingate Bulldogs, anchoring one of the top defenses in the conference. He won the John R. Dodd Coaches Award during his senior year. Olliver holds a bachelor's degree in parks and recreation administration from Wingate.
