Le Moyne Wins 49 Straight NE-10 Game

RINDGE, N.H. – Senior midfielder Nick Blumer (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Hobart) and junior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) scored two goals apiece to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 9-2 win at Franklin Pierce on Wednesday afternoon at Sodexo Field.
The Dolphins opened the game's scoring at the 4:18 mark of the first quarter. After Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Don Denman turned away the first five Le Moyne shots on goal, Blumer found the back of the net for the fourth time this season. Just over two minutes later, sophomore midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) doubled the lead for his team with his 13th goal of the campaign.
Le Moyne scored five times in the second quarter to blow the game open. Just 59 seconds into the quarter, Blumer tallied his second goal of the contest. Off the ensuing face-off, sophomore face-off specialist Cameron Fedish (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) caused a turnover, picked up the loose ball and fed Frechette, who netted his 10th goal of the season.
Senior midfielder Taylor Brooks (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair) increased Le Moyne's lead to five with his sixth goal of the season with 10:59 remaining in the quarter. After eight and one-half minutes of scoreless action, junior midfielder Aaron Cahill (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland/Onondaga C.C.) recorded an unassisted goal, his sixth of the year. Senior attackman Sean Connors (Camillus, N.Y./Marcellus) completed the scoring in the first half by finishing off a feed from Frechette with 1:09 remaining.
Sophomore attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) scored the first goal of the third quarter with his eighth of the year at the 9:26 mark.
Eddie Noonan got the Ravens on the scoreboard with an extra-man goal off a pass from Brendan Cahill with 1:38 remaining in the third quarter.
Frechette gave the eight-goal lead back to the Dolphins by scoring in an extra-man situation off a pass from sophomore midfielder Tim Beach (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) with 14:34 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Noonan capped the scoring in the game by finding the back of the net with 15 seconds left.
Junior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) made six saves, without allowing a goal, in 35:34 between the pipes to register his 32nd career victory, the second-most in the program's history. Denman finished the game with 16 saves, seven of which came in the first quarter.
Le Moyne (9-0, 5-0 NE-10), which has won 49 consecutive Northeast-10 games, returns to action on Saturday against #3 Merrimack at 1:00 p.m. in a battle of two of the nation's three remaining undefeated teams.
