No. 2 Le Moyne Shuts Out Southern N.H.

from press release

SYRACUSE, N.Y.
– Junior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.) scored three goals and dished out three assists to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 12-0 victory over Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday afternoon at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Sophomore attackman Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with 4:23 left in the first quarter by firing in a shot from 10 yards out on the right side after a pass from goal-line extended by Prevost. Senior midfielder Nick Blumer (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) followed two minutes later with his second goal of the season off a drive from outside the restraining line. Off the ensuing face-off, defensive midfielder Conor Regin (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C.) raced in for his second tally of the campaign at the 2:11 mark.

The Dolphins extended their lead to 10-0 by scoring seven times in the second quarter. Prevost scored the first two in a span of 30 seconds, with his fifth goal of the season coming at the 13:05 and his sixth finding the back of the net at 12:35. Just over two minutes later, Blumer finished off a pass from junior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) for a 6-0 lead. Following eight and one-half minutes of scoreless action, Prevost scored from the right edge of the crease off a pass by Frechette in transition after junior defenseman Alex Cameron-Carter (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) caused a Southern New Hampshire turnover. Frechette registered his third straight assist by finding sophomore Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) at the 1:17 mark for his sixth goal of the year. After causing a Southern New Hampshire turnover in its defensive end, senior midfielder Taylor Brooks (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair) picked up the loose ball and fired in his fourth goal of the season with 32 seconds left in the half. Out of a Le Moyne timeout with 13 seconds to go, Prevost came around the right side of the goal and fed Brooks at the top of the box, where he ripped a shot into the back of the net with 4.3 seconds remaining to close out the quarter's scoring.

In the slow-paced second half, the Dolphins scored twice to cap the scoring in the game. Chadderdon gave the Dolphins an 11-goal lead with his team-leading 11th goal of the year at the 4:35 mark of the third quarter off a pass from Prevost, his team-best 12th helper of the season. Sophomore midfielder Matt Klepper (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Merrimack) scored the fourth quarter's only goal with 2:10 left off a pass from junior attackman Justin DePalma (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Sacred Heart).

Junior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) registered five saves in the first half to pick up his 29th career victory, which ties him with Tom Kimble '03 for third on the program's career wins list. Sophomore Connor Smart (Elbridge, N.Y./Jordan-Elbridge) made seven saves in 20:48 between the pipes, while senior Matt Krupka (Nedrow, N.Y./Onondaga) turned away one shot to complete the shutout. Brendan O'Brien took the loss for the Penmen after giving up 10 goals, while making five saves in the first half.

Le Moyne (6-0, 2-0 NE-10), which registered its 13th shutout in program history and its first since a 13-0 win at Assumption on April 3, 2011, wraps up its non-conference schedule on Sunday against Rollins (Fla.) at 11:00 a.m.
