from press release

SYRACUSE, N.Y.
– Juniors Aaron Cahill (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland/Onondaga C.C.) and Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) scored two goals apiece to lead the third-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 9-6 win over second-ranked Adelphi on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

The Panthers opened the game's scoring at the 5:41 mark of the first quarter. Following a Le Moyne penalty, Joe Celano scored 17 seconds into the extra-man opportunity off a pass from Michael Rossi. Celano doubled his team's lead with 17 seconds left in the first quarter off a Le Moyne turnover in its defensive end.

Sophomore face-off specialist Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass./Needham/Bridgton Academy) won the opening face-off of the second quarter and raced up field to score his second goal of the season six seconds into the period.

After a pair of errant shots, Frechette finished off a pass from senior attackman Sean Connors (Camillus, N.Y./Marcellus) with 11:31 left in the second quarter for his sixth goal of the campaign. Just over a minute later, Cahill scored his fourth goal of the year in transition off an Adelphi turnover. Senior midfielder Nick Blumer (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Hobart) capped off Le Moyne's four-goal spurt with 6:41 remaining with his first goal of the season.

Danny Blau closed out the scoring in the first half with his ninth goal of the campaign from the crease off a pass from the right corner by Celano.

Following a save by junior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS), graduate student midfielder Tyler Sennett (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) registered his fourth goal of the year on a drive from the left side with 12:49 remaining in the third quarter. Just 70 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) scored for the ninth time this season to give the Dolphins a 6-3 advantage. Cahill extended Le Moyne's lead to four with his second goal of the day off a restart with 8:15 left.

Long-stick midfielder Kevin Kennedy pulled the Panthers within three after faking out his defender, taking a pass from Joe Vitale and finding the back of the net for the fourth time this season.

The Dolphins regained their four-goal lead as Frechette capped the scoring in the third quarter with 3:03 left after taking a feed from junior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.) in transition.

The Panthers scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to pull within 8-6, but could not get any closer. Shane Wynn recorded his fifth goal of the campaign at the 12:57 mark, while Joe Vitale snapped a scoreless stretch of 9:18 with his 10th goal of the year on a drive to the crease from the left side with 3:39 to go.

Connors put the game away with his team-best 10th goal of the season with 2:25 left off a pass from senior midfielder Taylor Brooks (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair).

White made seven saves between the pipes to earn his third victory in three years over the Panthers. Eric Janssen made 10 saves in taking the loss for the Panthers.

Le Moyne (5-0, 1-0 NE-10), which has won 46 straight Northeast-10 Conference games, returns to action on Friday against Southern New Hampshire at 4:00 p.m.
