Balanced Attack Lifts Dowling

GREENBURG, Pa. - Five Golden Lions netted mulitple goals en route to an 11-8 East Coast Conference win over the Griffins of Seton Hill University. Dowling improves to 2-0 on the season with a 2-0 ECC record. The Griffins drop to 1-2 with a 1-1 conference mark.
The Griffins jumped to a 3-0 lead in the opening period before Brendan Hayes got the Golden Lions on the board at the 6:35 mark. Another two Seton Hill goals gave them a 5-1 lead heading into the second period.
Tom Cleary took a pass from Hayes and and put it through the pipes in the opening minutes of period two. SHU posted another score, but Vito DeMola netted two with Dan Abbene's first goal of the afternoon sandwiched between to chip away at the Griffin lead (5-6).
The Golden Lions provided all the scoring turning in 4 goals while holding the Griiffins to just one shot in the fifteen minutes of the third quarter to take their first lead of the afternoon at 10-7.
Both sides exchanged goals in the final quarter as the Golden Lions held on for the 11-8 win.
DeMola, Hayes, Abbene, Michael Brennan and Matthew Muzio all finished with two goals with Tom Cleary pitching in one.
For the Griffins, Matt Delmonico posted a game high four goals.
Ryan Dougherty earned the win with 11 saves.
The Golden Lions return home as the host the NYIT Bears Saturday, March 10th at 1:00 PM.
