Inside the Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Roster

MISENHEIMER, N.C.
- Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team has put together a player outlook for the upcoming 2011 season. Listed below are the Falcons currently on the 2011 roster with positions, hometowns, former schools/coaches and past accolades. The Falcons will open up the season on February 19th in Hickory, N.C. taking on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. Pete Milliman is in his third season as head coach of the Falcons. Coach Milliman added quotes for each individual player. Steve Torkington returns for his second season as Milliman's assistant.

#23 Chris Rabung Fr. Attack 6'0'' 185 lbs.
Hometown: Purcellville, VA
High School: Loudon Valley HS
HS Coach: Jeff Lewandowski

Chris helped lead his team to the Virginia State Championship game where they were edged out by a very good Langley Saxons team. Chris finished the year with 70 points which earned him Loudon Valley-First team All-District, First Team All-Region and First Team All-Metro.

"Chris is a big kid who knows how to use his body and has great offensive potential. With two older brothers being involved in the program, we have been excited about him for a couple of years now. We think that Chris has potential to be an outstanding college lacrosse player."

#44 Rory Vannais So. Defense 6'1" 185 lbs.
Hometown: Shamong, NJ
High School: Holy Cross HS
HS Coach: Shane McDevitt

Rory was a team captain of his team at Holy Cross High School as well as a team MVP and was selected as First Team All-South Jersey. He finished his career with 87 total points at midfield and a 66% faceoff percentage.

"Rory is returning to the program after taking a few years off and he has really put in some hard work to prepare for this upcoming season. We are going to try him out at defense this year and at this point it looks like it might be a great fit. He has some good face off experience and we are looking for him to make a big contribution at the X as well as on defense."

#26 Steve Tilmon Fr. Midfield 6'2" 176 lbs.
Hometown: Orlando, FL
High School: Timber Creek HS
HS Coach: Tony Moreschi

A four year varsity member, Steven had his best year as a senior scoring 42 goals and adding 34 assists for 76 points which led his team in all three categories. A senior captain earned First Team All Metro, First Team All-District and also participated in the Senior All-Star game(Central FL). A very competitive swimmer, Tilmon was First Team All Metro in addition to setting his school record in the 50 meters with a time 21.00.

"Steven is an outstanding athlete with a ton of potential. He is one of the top midfielders from his area and he has the ability to play both sides of the field. He has great speed and moves the ball well off the dodge. He should be a big contributor in transition offense."

#41 Hayden Kirk Fr. Goalie 5'11" 195 lbs.
Hometown: Farmingdale, NY
High School: Farmingdale HS
HS Coach: Bob Hartranft

A varsity captain in football as well as Lacrosse, Hayden turned his senior season into something special. An exceptional playoff run helped Farmingdale win the Nassau County Championships as Hayden was selected as the playoff's Most Valuable Goaltender. With a 69% save percentage, Hayden earned Nassau County-First Team and was selected as Thomas Clinton Award Winner, Pete Nysdad Award Winner and ESPN Rise Honorable Mention.

"Hayden just finished an outstanding senior season and is really looking forward to continuing that at the next level. He is a motivated player and has big game potential and should compete for the starting job right away."

#28 Tim Kleehammer Jr. Midfield 5'7" 165 lbs.
Hometown: Rochester, NY
High School: West Irondequoit HS
HS Coach: Craig Whipple

Tim was part of a very good team his senior year who won the 2007 Class A Section V Championships and he earned himself All-Monroe County honorable mention.

"Tim is a very solid two-way midfielder with great endurance. He came from a great high school program in West Irondequoit and gained some good experience at Monroe CC. I think that Tim's experience and knowledge of the game should help him see plenty of time this year."

#5 Mike Triolo Fr. Defense 6'8" 205 lbs.
Hometown: Toronto, ON
High School: Birchmount Park HS
HS Coach: Paul Connolly

A Varsity Captain his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, Mike was a member and captain of the U19 Toronto Beaches in 2009 and was selected as All Greater Toronto Area District for both his junior and senior seasons.

"Mike is a huge body with outstanding hands. He has played LSM in the past but will probably be moved down to close defense this year and really push for some playing time early. As in indoor player, he plays offense so his stick skills and ability to get balls off the ground will be his biggest asset."

#11 Tucker Hammock Fr. Attack 5'11" 180 lbs.
Hometown: Marietta, GA
High School: Lassiter HS
HS Coach: Pete Manderano

Tucker completed his senior campaign with some big totals statistically. He totaled 116 points on 60 goals and 56 assists and 132 ground balls all while leading his team to Georgia 5A state championship game. Tucker was selected as the Marietta Daily Journal Player of the Year, First Team All-Cobb County, First Team All State and All American.

"Tucker had an enormous senior year for Lassiter HS, leading them to the state championship game in Georgia. He's got great vision as a feeder and really understands his abilities on offense. We expect Tucker to compete for time on offense immediately."

#42 Mitch Robertson Fr. Midfield 5'9" 170 lbs.
Hometown: Whitby, ON
High School: Sinclair Secondary
HS Coach: Jason Crosbie

An Ontario Provincial Finalist with Oshawa Blue Knights, Mitch also played for the Edge Senior Elite Team in '09. He has been a member of the Clarington Green Gaels in 2009 and 2010 helping the team to the Ontario Championships in '09 and registering 30 total points in 2010.

"Mitch is a Canadian with a ton of outdoor lacrosse experience. An Oshawa, ON native, he has played with the Blue Knights as well as with the Edge Lacrosse program. He should definitely see some time at midfield this year."

#16 Elliot Gilbert Fr. Attack 6'0'' 190 lbs.
Hometown: Corning, NY
High School: Corning East HS
HS Coach: Bob Streeten

A three year varsity player, Elliot registered 19 goals and 10 assists in nine games in a shortened senior season. A member of the two-time Section 4 Champions, his team also made it to two consecutive New York State Championship games.

"Elliot has good size with an outstanding outside shot. He comes from a great high school program in upstate New York and was having a very solid senior season before being sidelined with an injury. We are looking for Elliot to contribute some time at attack and possibly man-up this year."

#15 Tom Buckley Fr. Midfield 5'10" 170 lbs.
Hometown: Edmonton, AB
High School: St. Francis Xavier HS
HS Coach: Jamey Bowen

Tom played the 2010 box season for the junior A Edmonton Miners where he tallied 14 goals and 10 assists. He was listed as his team MVP for St. Francis Xavier Lacrosse Academy and also a member of Team Alberta's indoor squad.

"Tom comes from Western Canada and has a ton of box lacrosse experience. We are really excited about Tom's upside and are looking for him to really develop when he gets more experience at this level."

#33 John Beedle Fr. Midfield 5'11" 180 lbs.
Hometown: Cheyenne, WY
High School: Cheyenne Central HS
HS Coach: Mark Debrowski

A three year captain at Cheyenne Central high school, John helped lead his team to two Wyoming state titles while leading his team in scoring both his junior and senior seasons.

"John is not from a lacrosse hotbed in Cheyenne, WY, but he has shown great potential and has put in a lot of work to get ready for the next level. He is another player who we are really excited to see develop as he gets more experience."

#7 Zack Clark Fr. Midfield 5'11" 165 lbs.
Hometown: Corning, NY
High School: Corning East HS
HS Coach: Bob Streeten

A member of the NYS Section 4 championship team, Zach helped his team to a 17-5 record his senior year and was a starter at midfield in 2010 Class C New York State Championship game. He also chipped in with a pair of assists during the state playoff run.

"Zack is another solid two-way midfielder from a very good program in upstate New York. He was a steady contributor all senior season and started in the State Championship game versus Manhasset."

#27 Malone Munford Fr. Defense 5'11" 175 lbs.
Hometown: Cheyenne, WY
High School: Cheyenne Central HS
HS Coach: Mark Debrowski

Another player from Cheyenne Central high school in Wyoming, Malone is coming to Pfeiffer after spending his freshman year at the University of Wyoming. A high school letterman both his junior and senior year as well as a team captain, Malone led his team in groundballs during both of his varsity seasons.

"Malone is a very intense player both on the field and in the weight room. We are excited to see him develop in the system and think that he has potential to help out the team in the future."

#22 Cody Wetherald Fr. Midfield 6'0'' 175 lbs.
Hometown: Austin, TX
High School: Westwood HS
HS Coach: Evan Welchel

Cody was a four year varsity player at Westwood high school. He was listed as one of the Top 25 players in the region for both his Junior and senior years as reported by Westsidelax. In addition to lacrosse, Cody competed in varsity football since his sophomore and was selected as All-District and helped his team to the state playoffs his senior year.

"Cody comes from Austin, TX, another non-traditional area that is really starting to take off. Cody has some good speed and an ability to beat his defender off the dodge. There is a good chance that Cody may see some playing time at midfield this year."

#17 James Shepherd Fr. Attack 5'11 185 lbs.
Hometown: St. John, NB
High School: The Hill Academy
HS Coach: Brodie Merrill

In addition to playing for his high school team, James was a member of the 2009 Clarington Green Gaels which went on to with the Ontario championship and competed in the Founders Cup in Edmonton, AB. This past year James played in 19 games for the Junior B Orangeville Northmen.

"James comes from an outstanding program up in Ontario, Canada at The Hill Academy. He brings a big shot and a lot of field experience to Pfeiffer and we are looking for him to be one of our top attack men this year."

#18 Robert Hope Fr. Attack 6'2" 192 lbs.
Hometown: Peterborough, ON
High School: Holy Cross Secondary
HS Coach: Jeff Ralph

A member of the Junior A Peterborough Lakers, Robert totaled 51 Loose balls and 12 points on the season as a transition player. In addition to his work in the box arena, he helped his high school team at Holy Cross Secondary to 3 straight Ontario finals.

"Rob is a Peterborough, ON native with a lot of box experience. He has good size and finishes very well from the left side and will probably be competing for time on attack and man up this year."

#38 Tommy Melching Fr. Midfield 6'0'' 185 lbs
Hometown: Matthews, NC
High School: Providence HS
HS Coach: William Humphrey

A 2009 member of Team Charlotte, Tommy has been a part of some quality teams in the Charlotte, NC area. He finished the season with a 60% faceoff percentage. He also registered 20 points for Providence Senior High School where the team went on to win the Queen City Conference Championship in 2008 and 2009. In addition to winning the local championship, Providence HS was also as the crowned the 2009 North Carolina 4-A state Champions.

"Tommy brings experience at the face off position as well as playing some offensive midfield. We really like Tommy's attitude and work ethic and we are looking for him to work his way into the face off rotation in the future."

#30 Billy Rawson FR. Midfield 5'8" 150 lbs.
Hometown: St. Charles, IL
High School: St. Charles East HS
HS Coach: Andy Thompson

Billy had a very solid senior year helping his team to a 16-2 overall record. He tallied 23 total points on 21 goals and two assists in addition to finishing the year with a 55% faceoff percentage. Billy was also awarded as his teams Most Improved Player in 2010.

"Billy is not huge but he plays with a ton of heart. He does a great job fighting for loose balls and also spent a lot of time taking face offs for a pretty successful team in high school. We are really looking for Billy to help us as a short stick defender with some college level experience."

#40 Mike Fournier Fr. Goalie 5'10" 180 lbs.
Hometown: Morganton, NC
High School: Patton HS
HS coach: John Radecsky

A three year varsity member, Mike finished his career with an 80% save percentage. He was selected as the team Defensive Player of the Year for his sophomore and junior seasons and capped that off with his Team MVP award as a senior.

"Mike is someone who we found through our summer camps here at Pfeiffer. He has great energy in the cage and a true desire to learn the position. Also an outstanding student in the classroom, we are really excited about Mike's future with the program."

#3 Sawentanon (Swan) Skidders So. Attack 5'10" 190 lbs.
Hometown: Akwaesasne, ON
High School: Salmon River HS
HS Coach: Dave White

Sawentanon comes to Pfeiffer from Monroe Community College where he competed in the spring of 2009. In that season he finished the season with 34 goals and added seven assists as a starting attack man for the Tribunes.

"Swanny is an outstanding young man and we are really excited to have him join our program this year. He has some good experience at the Junior College level in addition to his background as a high school and box lacrosse player. He finishes the ball very well and seems to have a good grasp of lacrosse at the college level. We expect him to see some quality time on offense in the future"
