Assumption Can't Catch No. 4 Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack men's lacrosse team made it two straight conference victories, defeating Assumption College 8-5 Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Warriors only led 5-4 at halftime after Assumption netted a goal with one second remaining the half. Brad McAdam (Neshanic Station, NJ) had two first-half goals as Merrimack outshot the Greyhounds 26-9 in the first 30 minutes, forcing Scott Vogel to make six saves.
But Merrimack tacked on three straight in the second half, as Michael Balbuena (Falmouth, MA), Terence Barclay (Babylon, NY) and David Robinson (Lexington, MA) made it an 8-4 lead with 12:08 to play, with Barclay and Robinson's goals coming on the man advantage.
Barclay led the way with two goals and an assist, while McAdam (two goals), Balbuena (goal, assist), and Corey Lunney (Little Silver, NJ) (goal, assist) each had multi-point efforts in the win.
Connor Reagan (East Lyme, CT) stopped three shots, while Nick Maggio (Winchester, MA) won 12 of 16 draws as Merrimack outshot Assumption 47-21.
Merrimack (5-1, 2-0 NE-10) heads to Saint Michael's for a battle with the Purple Knights Wednesday at 4 p.m.
