Le Moyne Picked Again in NE-10

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. -- The Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team has been selected to win its fourth straight Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship, as voted upon by the league's 11 head coaches and announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Le Moyne, which has played in the last 11 Northeast-10 Conference Championship games, received eight of the possible 11 first-place votes to finish with 98 points. Merrimack College, which upset the Dolphins, 12-11, in overtime in last season's conference tournament title game, picked up a pair of first-place votes to finish second in the poll with 92 points.
Adelphi, which finished third in the conference standings last year in its first year in the league, garnered the final first-place vote in being selected third with 81 points. Bentley was tabbed fourth with 75 points a year after finishing in fourth-place with a 7-3 conference record. Pace earned a fifth-place ranking with 58 points, while Saint Michael's was picked to round out the conference tournament field with 50 points for a sixth-place finish.
Saint Anselm garnered seventh place in the poll with 43 points, Southern New Hampshire was picked eighth with 41 points, while Franklin Pierce (34), Assumption (20) and American International (13) round out the final three spots of the standings.
Le Moyne, which ended the 2010 season with a 15-2 record and its fifth consecutive appearance in the National Championship game, returns 23 letterwinners and six starters from 2010. Four players earned preseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Yearbook. Senior attackmen Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/Syracuse) and Jack Venditti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and senior midfielders Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) and Corey Bulken (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) were all named to the publication's first team.
The Dolphins open the season on Saturday, Feb. 26 at home against Seton Hill at 1:00 p.m. The contest will mark the first lacrosse game held at the athletic turf complex that was opened this past fall. The six-team Northeast-10 tournament will begin on Tuesday, May 3. The semifinals will take place on Friday, May 6, with the finals being played on Sunday, May 8 at the highest seed.
