Dowling to Host Manhattan, Stony Brook

Dowling College Athletics and the Dowling Men's Lacrosse team
have announced that the 2nd Annual Wishmakers Fall Classic will be
held on Sunday, October 18th at Golden Lions Field in Brookhaven,
NY. Dowling will play host to Stony Brook University and Manhattan
College for the day as the teams face off against each other in
three separate matches.
All proceeds from the gate as well as money raised from 50/50 and
prize raffles, concession sales, and merchandise sales will go
towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help children with
life-threatening illnesses fulfill their dreams. Last year, the
inaugural Wishmakers Fall Classic raised over $4,000 for the cause
as Dowling faced off against Manhattan College, C.W. Post
University, and Sacred Heart University. Over 400 people were
present to show their support on the chilly October day.
This year, the day will start with the Golden Lions facing DI Stony
Brook University at 10:00am. At noon, Stony Brook will next face
Manhattan College and then the day will finish with Dowling taking
on Manhattan at 2:00pm.
"With the success of the Fall Classic last year, we are happy to
once again play host to some good teams while raising money for a
great cause." Said head coach, Tim Boyle.
During the 2008-2009 school year, Dowling raised $17,347.90 for the
Make-A-Wish Foundation, more money raised than any other single DII
institution in NCAA history.
