No. 2 Le Moyne Edges Mars Hill in Opener

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 2-ranked Le Moyne College men’s lacrosse team opened their 2010 season with a 7-6 victory over Mars Hill in Charlottesville, Virginia. Pre-season All-American Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, NY / CBA / Syracuse U.) led the Dolphins with three goals as the ‘Phins captured their 34th consecutive regular season game victory dating back to 2007. The one-goal win marked the 11th consecutive season Le Moyne has opened a campaign with a victory.

Joining Harmatuk in the scoring column with one goal each was Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, NY / Auburn), Mike Rabbitt (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury), Mike Byrnes (Preble, NY / Tully) and Vinnie Alexander (Syracuse, NY / Westhill / Onondaga C.C.).

Freshman Jeff White (Buffalo, NY / Canisius H.S.) made his first appearance in cage as the Dolphin net minder and was solid in goal throughout the day.

Le Moyne returns to action on Sunday, March 7th as they face sixth-ranked Limestone at noon at Severna Park High School in Severna Park, Maryland.
