Providence's Breandan Kearns Named Epoch/LM Player of Week
Lacrosse's version of March Madness continued last week. Nine teams ranked in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division I Men's Top 20 suffered at least one loss, but the biggest shocker might have been Providence's 12-7 win over then-No. 12 Hofstra on Saturday. Coach Chris Gabrielli called it "the most complete game I have seen here in Friartown."
Freshman attackman Brendan Kearns was the catalyst. The Chaminade (N.Y.) product scored three goals and added two assists to earn Epoch/Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week honors.
Kearns punctuated a five-goal flurry at the end of the first quarter, scored two straight goals bridging the second and third quarters after Hofstra pulled within one and then assisted two fourth-quarter goals to help stave off the Pride.
