Villanova's Jake Froccaro Named Epoch/LM Player of the Week

from LaxMagazine.com staff reports | Twitter

After an epic performance in Villanova's 19-9 win over previously No. 16-ranked Penn State, redshirt junior midfielder Jake Froccaro now owns or shares single-game scoring records at two different Division I schools.

Froccaro, who transferred to Villanova from Princeton in the offseason after missing most of the 2015 season with an injury, previously tied the Princeton record when he scored 10 goals against Yale on March 22, 2014. He set the Villanova mark with eight goals Saturday, earning him Epoch/Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week honors.

Froccaro's brother, Joey, is a freshman midfielder for the Wildcats. He originally intended to join Jake at Princeton before both decided to attend Villanova. Their sister, Jackie, plays for Villanova's women's team and was the 2015 Big East Attacker of the Year.

It was a big offseason score for the Wildcats. Jake Froccaro is the only midfielder in Princeton history to score at least 20 goals in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. After scoring another four goals Tuesday in Villanova's 14-9 win over Drexel, he's up to 14 in just his first three games as a Wildcat.
