Towson Men Dot Schedule with Local Powers
from Press Release
TOWSON, Md. Early season matchups with Maryland-area lacrosse powers highlight the 2014 Towson Lacrosse schedule.
"Our 2014 schedule will allow us great competition from start to finish," said Head Coach Shawn Nadelen. "Every team will pose challenges for Towson and our team is excited for the opportunities that we will have. With a strong non-conference schedule leading into our CAA conference schedule, our men will have to execute at a high level from the start and stay focused every week for each opponent."
The Tigers kick off the season with a home game against High Point on February 8 at 7p.m. before traveling to two cross-town foes Johns Hopkins on February 15 and Loyola on February 19. Towson plays four of its next five games at The U - Georgetown (February 22; 7 p.m.), Mount St. Mary¹s (March 1; 7 p.m.), Navy (March 11; 7 p.m.) and UMBC (March 18; 7 p.m.). The Tigers sandwich an away trip to Marist (March 7; 7 p.m.) in the midst of those four games. Towson and Georgetown have not met since the 2004 NCAA Tournament, a 15-8 Hoyas win.
The 2013 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champions begin the defense of their title with Delaware on March 22 at home at 7 p.m. Nadelen¹s Tigers face Hofstra (March 29) and UMass (April 5) on the road but end the regular season with three straight home games. They host perennial power Penn State on April 12 at 7:30 p.m., Drexel on April 19 at 7 p.m. and non-conference opponent Pennsylvania on April 22. Towson defeated PSU and Drexel during its run to the league title last season.
The CAA championships run from May 2-4 at the home of the highest seed, and the NCAA Tournament begins on the weekend of May 10-11.
