Rutgers Lacrosse Helps with Sandy Relief
from press release
PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers football fans might have noticed an abundance of Rutgers men's lacrosse players outside High Point Solutions Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 10. The Scarlet Knights, armed with home-made signs, American Red Cross donation buckets and good spirits, sought out RU fans willing to assist with the Rutgers Athletic Department's goal of helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The Saturday morning of donation gathering spread members of the 48-member squad across the vast expanses of tailgating space used by Rutgers supporters. The men's lacrosse squad's efforts were combined with fans purchasing "stRong" t-shirts with all proceeds going towards the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund established by First Lady Mary Pat and Governor Chris Christie. Additionally, a coat drive hosted by the Rutgers & Livingston Alumni Associations was held, along with a canned food and non-perishables drive in collaboration with ShopRite and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
Fans who still wish to donate to the Red Cross Relief Fund can do so via text message by sending the text "REDCROSS" to 90999.
