Trevor Tierney Stepping Down as Denver Assistant

from Press Release

DENVER – University of Denver men's lacrosse volunteer assistant coach Trevor Tierney stepped down from his position as a member of the coaching staff last week. Tierney has been a part of the Pioneers' coaching staff since the 2010 season and is the son of head coach Bill Tierney.

Tierney will still remain a part of the Denver lacrosse community, working with youth and high school lacrosse players through the Tierney Lacrosse teams, tournaments, camps and clinics.

"I am grateful for the past four years in which I had the opportunity to spend with the University of Denver Pioneers men's lacrosse team as an assistant coach," Tierney said. "Some of the accomplishments that we have all shared together, including two Final Fours, a few ECAC championships and multiple All-Americans, are some of the proudest moments in my entire athletic career."

Tierney is pursuing his master's degree in psychology and will continue to work with athletes on an individual level to help them reach their highest levels of performance both on and off the field.

"I am excited to continue to work on our youth and high school lacrosse programs through Tierney Lacrosse for the development of younger players and our game in the Colorado community," Tierney said.

In his four seasons with the Pioneers, Tierney has helped the program amass a 50-20 overall record (.714) and a 22-4 conference mark.

"I will miss all of the players and people that I have met through the University of Denver, who have become like family to me," Tierney said. "I will be the Pioneers' number one fan for years to come and look forward to seeing the them have continued success as they work toward their ultimate goal of winning a national championship and sending tremendous young men out into the world."
