Siena Takes Fourth Straight, Outruns Providence

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Four Saints scored three goals or more as Siena's offense continued to be red hot in a 16-13 victory over Providence Saturday afternoon at Siena Turf Field. Colin Clive and Chris Roth scored four goals apiece, while Clive and Bryan Neufeld posted six points each as the Saints won their fourth in a row.

After stumbling out of the gates offensively in averaging 7.5 goals over their first four games of the season, the Saints (5-3) are now averaging a whopping 15.5 goals during their current winning streak.

Siena broke open a 3-3 second period tie with five straight goals and would take an 8-4 lead at the half. Providence (1-5) scored three quick goals in the opening minutes of the second half to pull as close as three, 10-7, but never got any closer the rest of the way.

Clive finished with a career-high in points and has scored a goal in all eight games this season, while Neufeld added a hat trick to go along with three assists. Neufeld has been remarkable during the Saints' four-game winning streak, totaling 27 points.

Roth scored three of the Saints' final four goals including the game-winner to ice things late. Danny Martinsen added five points in running his scoring streak to 25 games and goal scoring streak to 15 straight, while Chris D'Alberti added a hat trick.

Freshman Casey Dowd was exceptional at the faceoff X, winning 20-32 faceoffs while picking up a career-high 12 groundballs. He also added his first two career points - a goal and an assist - as the Saints won their fifth straight over their former MAAC rivals.Providence spread out its scoring attack with 11 different players tallying a point and nine players scored a goal. Niall Cahill led the way with four points including a hat trick.

The Saints return to action next Saturday for the MAAC home opener against Jacksonville. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m. at Siena Turf Field on Time Warner Cable Sports.
