Denver Assistant Tierney Inducted into N.J. Hall of Fame
from press release
DENVER – University of Denver volunteer assistant coach Trevor Tierney was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame at a reception on the campus of Rutgers University last weekend.
Tierney, son of DU men's lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney, won two national championships as a goalie while at Princeton with his father at the helm. He also earned first- and second-place finishes as a member of Team USA at the 2002 and 2006 World Championships, respectively. Tierney finished ninth in career saves (430) at Princeton, earning All-American honors in 2001.
Tierney was the second overall pick in the first ever Major League Lacrosse draft, playing for four different teams in seven seasons. Tierney won an MLL championship in 2005 with the Baltimore Bayhawks, before joining his father's staff at DU in 2009.
Tierney joined two-time First Team All-Ivy League selection and fellow Princeton goalie Peter Cordrey as the two newest inductees in the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
