Lehigh Men Hold Awards Banquet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's lacrosse team held its annual team banquet on Friday evening where head coach Kevin Cassese handed out the team awards. Evan Guerrero and Max Copelan received the Scholar-Athlete and Coaches Awards, respectively, while Cameron Lao-Gosney was presented with Player of the Year.
The evening served as a look back to a strong 2010 season which included an 8-7 overall record along with thrilling overtime wins over No. 9 Villanova and No. 19 Lafayette to finish the year. The Mountain Hawks also posted an impressive 5-1 record in one-goal games.
Numerous other season honors and awards were also recognized, including three All-League honorees. Guerrero earned first team while Will Scudder and Gosney were named to the second team. Guerrero was also named an Academic All-American by USILA.
Here is a rundown of the 2010 team award winners:
Scholar-Athlete – Evan Guerrero
This award is presented to the individual who exemplifies the ideal of the scholar-athlete. Guerrero wrapped up a stellar four-year career on the field, while also posting a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester, 3.67 overall. An All-League honoree, Guerrero started all 15 games at long stick defense, leading the team with 24 caused turnovers while scooping 32 ground balls.
Coaches Award – Max Copelan
A senior attackman, Copelan earned the Coaches Award, presented to the individual who made significant to the well-being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement or special leadership. The co-captain posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring and 3.97 overall.
Player of the Year – Cameron Lao-Gosney
Gosney earned Player of the Year after posting 30 points via 22 goals and eight assists while running on the team's top midfield line. His tremendous sophomore season was capped off by an All-League selection.
