Braddish, Antoniades Push Hofstra Past Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Ian Braddish had two goals
and an assist, and John Antoniades won 14 of 18 faceoffs, to lead
the No. 8-ranked Hofstra men's lacrosse team over Fairfield, 8-7,
on Saturday afternoon on Lessing Field. The Pride improved to 11-1.
The Stags fell to 6-6.
Hofstra built its largest lead of the game, 8-4, when Braddish (West Islip, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal 39 seconds into the final quarter of play. Fairfield's defense did not allow another goal the rest of the way, while the Stags made a run. Nick Baglio (Brightwaters, N.Y.) started the rally with an unassisted goal at the 11:43 mark and John Snellman (Norwalk, Conn.) tallied his second of the game with 6:05 to get Fairfield back within two, 8-6. The teams went up and down the field over the next minutes, including a penalty kill by the Pride, but neither could find the back of the net. Fairfield broke through with two seconds remaining as Brent Adams (Norwalk, Conn.) found Matt Plominski (Port Washington, N.Y.). The final faceoff was won by Hofstra to seal the victory.
Charlie Cipriano (Williston Park, N.Y.) took the loss in net for the Stags, making eight saves in his 60 minutes of action. Andrew Gvozden (Millersville, Md.) earned the win in goal for Hofstra, making 10 saves, including three in the final 2:30 of play.
Snellman and Doug Kuring (New Milford, Conn.) both scored twice to lead the Stags offense. Adams handed out two assists and Plominski added a goal and an assist. Sam Snow (Bainbridge, Wash.) and Baglio both scored once, while Max Trunz (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) added an assist.
Hofstra was led by Braddish's three points, coming on two goals and an assist. Adrian Sorichetti (Whitby, Ontario) touched net twice, while Jay Card (Caledon, Canada) and Kevin Ford (Floral Park, N.Y.) both had a goal and an assist in the win.
