Bellarmine Picks Up First Road Victory
from press release
CLINTON, S.C. -- The Bellarmine
University lacrosse team got four goals from Colton Clark as the
Knights posted their first road win of the season with a 17-7
decision over Presbyterian College today in Old Bailey Stadium in
an NCAA Div. I non-conference game.
The win upped Bellarmine's season mark to 4-6 while the Blue Hose dropped to 1-7.
Bellarmine wasted little time establishing a solid lead as Clark scored two of his goals in the first two and a half minutes of the game. The Knights extended that lead to 4-0 before settling for a 5-1 lead after the opening period.
The homestanding Blue Hose came roaring back in the second stanza and trimmed the Knights' lead to just one as Bellarmine led just 6-5 going into halftime.
The second half was pretty much all Bellarmine, however, as the Knights outscored the home team 11-2 after half to record the 10-goal lead.
Bellarmine outshot Presbyterian 41-23 and had an outstanding defensive effort, limiting the Blue Hose to just a 57 percent clearing rate and picking up 20 more ground balls.
In addition to Clark's solid offensive effort, Bellarmine got big games from Cameron Gardner (2 goals, 3 assists) and Austin Bright (3 goals).
